Star’s Stove Top Sensitive Tummy Chicken with Carrots, Broccoli and White Rice
Yield: 14 cups, 276 calories per cup
If your dog has an upset stomach, I would not add pumpkin, but if there is diarrhea, a 1/2 cup of pumpkin can be added to the recipe.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds of a lean ground chicken (I used Trader Joe's)
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 pound carrots cut into bite sized pieces
- 4 ounces broccoli cut into bite sized pieces
- 5 cups cooked white rice (1 1/2 to 2 cups uncooked depending on the brand)
- 2 tsp Holistic Vet Blend Icelandic Blend Omega-3 Fish Oil
- 2 Tbsp Holistic Vet Blend Canine Limited Premix
Directions
- Cook white rice according to instructions on brand label. The final amount will vary but generally using 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cup of dried rice will yield five cups of cooked rice. You can cook the rice on the stovetop or use a rice cooker, which saves time from having to watch the rice.
- Sauté the ground chicken in coconut oil until completely cooked.
- Steam carrots and broccoli separately for 8-10 minutes.
- Mix all ingredients together and cool.
- Add the fish oil and premix. Mix well.
-
Freeze what you will not use in 4 days.
Additional Tips
- It's optional to add some pumpkin to this recipe if your dog has a soft or loose stool.

Mom's chicken and rice with carrots, kale, and blueberries
Yield: 15 cups, 304 calories per cup
I like a nice healthy, bland meal when I anticipate any stress or change that might affect my dogs. So I'll make it when we will be away for a few days, when all the dogs are on a road trip, or when my dogs go to competitions. I made this meal for Ellen when she went to a sheep herding trial, and she rocked it!
Ingredients
- 3 pounds boneless/skinless chicken thighs
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 3/4 pound carrots diced into bite-sized pieces
- 3/4 pound kale chopped with large stems removed
- 2 cups uncooked white rice
- 6 cups water or bone broth
- 4 ounces blueberries
- 2 tsp Holistic Vet Blend Icelandic Blend Omega-3 Fish Oil
- 3 Tbsp Holistic Vet Blend Canine Regular Premix
Directions
- Add the coconut oil and meat to the pot and break up the meat on the saute function for 3-5 minutes.
- Add the kale and saute a 1-2 minutes until wilted.
- Cook on high pressure for 3 minutes.
- Allow a natural release.
- Add the blueberries. Mix them in well, smashing the skins and cool the recipe.
- Add the HVB fish oil and premix. Mix well
-
Freeze what you will not use in 4 days.
Additional Tips
- Chicken thighs are often priced more affordably than breast meat and dogs love them!
Star's Chunky Beef Stew

- 2 cups brown rice

- 4 ounces blueberries
- 2 tsp Holistic Vet Blend Icelandic Blend Omega-3 Fish Oil
- 3 Tbsp Holistic Vet Blend Canine Regular Premix
Directions
- Add the water/broth, coconut oil, and brown rice to the pot.
- Add the carrots, and spread the beef over the top.
- Set the pot to high for 4 hours.
- After 4 hours, add the blueberries and spinach and mix in. Allow the recipe to cool.
- Add the premix and fish oil. Mix well.
-
Freeze what you do not use in 4 days.
